Isshinryu India IKKAI

 

Salil a citizen of India, born in 1962, is a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry), Bachelor of Law from University of Pune and a Diploma holder in Paint Technology, started his martial art career in 1978 by joining a Judo dojo in city of Pune. He joined local Wadoryu karate dojo in 1983 in Pune and after learning for five years came to know that the Wadoryu instructor is not legitimate black belt, so Salil shifted to the art of Isshinryu Karate-do in 1987.

 

Salil received his ranks up to San (3rd) Dan in following mentioned years: Shodan in 1992, Nidan in 1994 and Sandan in 1998. Salil participated in Isshinryu World Karate Championships 1996 at Gainesville, FL, USA. As a President of Isshinryu Karate & Kobudo Association of India (IKKAI), he made best possible efforts to spread art of Isshinryu Karate-do in India.

 

Salil received his Yondan in 2000, Godan in 2002 and Rokudan in 2004 from Sensei George Iberl.

 

Salil is known in the city of Pune for training 15.000 college girls from various colleges in self defence. He has trained Railway Police personnel and Prison Police personnel in self defence techniques at Pune.

 

Salil’s wife Sharmila and son Atulya (16 yrs. Of age) are Yondan and Sandan respectively.

 

He has won following tournaments,
• Millenium 2000 World Cup of Martial Arts, 1st Place Kata, 3rd place Kobudo held at Sydney, Australia.
• 2003 OIKKA Hall of Fame Championships, 2nd place Kobudo, 3rd place Kata held at PA, USA.
