SHADES OF ISSHINRYU
Cutting potatoes

MESS PHOTO 1957 (Harry G. Smith at right)
Things that had to be done to have the complete day
off. This way I had the unique opportunity to train with Sensei at
daylight. Worked at night, 7pm to 4am seven days a week. Cut more
potatoes than there are ants in the world.
Sgt. Hall made this possible. He pulled strings for
me, especially at the time I was a lineman, strung high voltage
wires through the area. When typhoons hit the mess hall work ceased
and I had to string wire until electric was back on.
It was I who got one single light bulb in the Agena
dojo at no cost to Sensei.
